Music Recommendations
This thread will be for all styles of music, I don't care what you bring in here. I myself am a classical man, so that (plus a couple of others) is what I'll be recommending. You can recommend what you want. I know there are some musically inclined folks out there, so I hope this thread will have at least moderate success. Please note that this is the stuff I think is best, so I'm not trying to recommend the whole kitchen sink here. Or maybe I am.
Beethoven
Symphonies Numbers (Symphony Numbers? Symphonies Number? Never mind) 9, 5 and 6.
Having only heard symphonies 1 & 8 besides, I most heartily recommend those three. The last two movements of 6, in particular, are pure genius.
Piano Sonatas Pathetique, Moonlight, and Waldstein (Opuses 13, 27, and 53, respectively)
Probably some of the greatest piano music ever. There's a reason Linus was always playing the Waldstein in any of the animated Peanuts shorts.
Camille Saint-Saens
Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso
Possibly the most gorgeous violin piece I have ever heard. Get Sarah Chang playing it, if you can. It comes on the same CD as a great Paganini Concerto, and it's before her musical skills went downhill.
Carl Orff
Carmina Burana
Choir ho! A wonderful collection of dirty German drinking songs collated into something we can sniff and be sort of upper-class about.
JS Bach
Toccata and Fugue in Dm
Organ music for the ages. Dee-duh-DEEEE! Duh-duh-duh-duh-dummmmmm! (It would make more sense if you could hear it)
Clint Mansell
Requiem for a Dream Soundtrack
Very... uh... moving. Especially if you've seen the movie.
John Williams
Star Wars Soundtracks, but in particular Episodes 4-6.
Get the Special Edition two-disc sets of the 4-6 if you can. The soundtracks for 1 & 2 are not as good, IMHO, and once you've heard the music and watch the movie, if you're like me, you'll agonize over the crazy cuts in the music in the movie. So yeah, 4-6.
Howard Shore
I think it's pretty much required that you have to get the soundtrack for Lord of The Rings.

other music
You have a great list going right now but a perfect compliment to your list would be any one of the Dvorak symphonies. When you hear them you can't help yourself from imagining how perfect the music goes along with such an epic game with brilliant gameplay.(fights or just running around)

Funny- My brother's playing 1st Violin in The New World Symphony, and I'm being subjected to listening to his part. Dvorak had a big sense of humor. Now all I have to do is lay a hold of the recording he has of it. I had never made the connection, but now that you mention it, it is a pretty good idea.

Child of the 80's
Being a child of the 80's I have to include:
U2
New Order
Depeche Mode
Duran Duran
Pet Shop Boys
More Recently:
Collective Soul
U2 (they're really timeless)
Pearl Jam
As far as classical-type--I go for soundtracks here:
Hans Zimmer (Gladiator is resplendant)
Howard Shore (minus "Fellowship" which I thought sounded hurried and unfinished)
John Williams
And the man some consider to be the father of most of today's modern composers of musical scores: Gustav Holst--listen to "The Planets"--just amazing work.

The Specials
The biggest British ska band of the late 70s/early 80's. Very influencial for the ska of today. Their song "Ghost Town" features in the movie 'Snatch'.
Catch 22 - Keasbey Nights
Headed by Tomas Kalnoky and regarded as the second greatest third-wave ska/punk album of today.
Streetlight Manifesto
Tomas Kalnoky left Catch 22 after the above album and formed Streetlight Manifesto. The album 'Everything Went Numb' is regarded as the greatest third-wave ska/punk album of today, and they are featured as a "need to know" band in Alternative Press magazines' "100 bands you need to know" March 2005 issue.

As far as classical goes...
if you like Toccata & Fugue in DM, which is awsome all the way through.
then lets not forget Tchaikovsky's Marche Slave.
Mozart was great with all different types of instruments. Beethoven was great with the piano. Bach, the pipe organ.
Beethovens 9th is alot better than his 8th, IMO. But to me also Mozart's piano, compaired to Beethovens, seems.......more "lullabyish".
John Williams.... i like Duel of Fates. If you liked Maul or not, just the music and fight...... as usual, they keep reusing the same music for alot of stuff. untill EP3 comes out in a couple months... where they will start using Vaders Theme again.
But Honestly, Barry Manalow Kicks major butt....

A couple groups that I enjoy:
Death Cab For Cutie
Postal Service (same singer as Death Cab)
The Early November
Dashboard Confessional
Ataris (not Boys of Summer though)
Starting Line
Yellowcard (and most of the others that THX listed, Hawthorne Heights isn't my fav. though)
DJ Shadow
Rise Against
And even though a lot of people hate them: Blink 182
Lots of others... can't think of them right now, lol.

Tch.. I don't really know, the stuff I listen to tends to be all over the map. As far as classical goes, I enjoy playing it more than I do listening to it. That being said, a collection of bands or artists you're likely to find me listening to: (in no particular order)
Lagwagon
No Use For A Name
Strung Out
Tsunami Bomb
Nirvana
The Smashing Pumpkins
Rise Against
The Ataris
Flogging Molly
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
Green Day
The Offspring
Soundgarden
The Dave Matthews Band
The Beatles
Creedence Clearwater Revival
The Cars
Dire Straits
Less Than Jake
The Mad Caddies
The Deftones
Yellowcard
Weezer
Saves The Day
Jimmy Eat World
Silverchair
The Pillows
Asian Kung Fu Generation
Orange Range
etc, etc. If I kept going, i'd be here for a better part of the day.

Honestly, if any of you guys like bands like... I dunno, stuff like Yellowcard, The Ataris, Blink 182, or Taking Back Sunday... I HIGHLY recommend The Early November.
Personally, I really like it cause they almost never get to that "Screaming" point that so many groups get to... Alexisonfire = Bad. A little bit, like in Story of the Year is ok... but too much really bothers me.
If you do look into them, I'd download the following to get a taste:
The Early November - Baby Blue
" " - Sunday Drive
" " - Exchanging 200 (or Exchanging Two Hundred)
" " - Open Eyes (not the acoustic... that one is not so hot)
Also, you guys probably know of these guys, but just in case, they're awesome: Brand New. They're older stuff is pretty sweet too. Overall, you can't go wrong with them. Some notables:
Brand New - Okay I Believe You But My Tommy Gun Don't
Brand New - Jude Law and a Semester Abroad
Brand New - Last Chance To Lose Your Keys
The Get Up Kids are decent as well... Same with Mae. I find that they're both hit and miss though...
The Get Up Kids - Close To Me (Cure Cover), is pretty solid.
The Get Up Kids - Overdue
Mae - Skyline Drive
Mae - Goodbye Goodnight
Bowling For Soup is a bit on the overly "poppy" side... but they have a pretty good song called:
Bowling For Soup - Bitch Song
Midtown... awesome band. I really love their stuff.
Midtown - Waiting For The News
Midtown - Nothing is Ever What It Seems
Midtown - You Should Know
I've always been a big fan of Matthew Good Band (he's solo now, though).
Matthew Good Band - Everything is Automatic
Matthew Good Band - Flight Recording from the Viking 7
Matthew Good Band - Prime Time Deliverence (spelling?)
Sugarcult has a bad rep, from what I've heard, but they're good, in my opinion.
Sugarcult - Back To California
Sugarcult - Over
Sugarcult - Counting Stars
Something Corporate is UNREAL, seriously. If you download anything from this list, give these guys a shot. I think they use the Piano really well, to give their songs a really cool feel.
Something Corporate - Fall
Something Corporate - Forget December
Something Corporate - Break Myself
Eve 6 is pretty good. Reminds me a LITTLE of Jimmy Eat World, but JEW has better melodies.
Eve 6 - Arch Drive Goodbye
Eve 6 - Open Road Song
Eve 6 - Friend of Mine
Like I said in my other post, Death Cab For Cutie is good. Actually they're awesome, lol. I really recommend these guys as well. The name is misleading, lol, there is nothing Deathly about them at all.
Death Cab for Cutie - 405 (Acoustic)
Death Cab for Cutie - Tiny Vessels
Death Cab for Cutie - Title and Registration
Death Cab For Cutie - Lightness, this one's a little "moody" but still good
EDIT: Almost forgot Rufio... lol, they're a pretty ridiculous band and I think they're an aquired taste but if you're interested:
Rufio - Over It
Rufio - Above Me
Rufio - Still
Anyway, I could go on for... quite a while, but I have some stuff to do... still, if you haven't heard of these bands (I'm sure you have) give them a shot.
Oh yeah and "Deep Blue Something - Breakfast At Tiffany's" is an unreal song.

Primus- John The Fisherman
Primus- To Defy The Laws of Tradition
Primus- Wynona's Big Brown Beaver
Primus- Southbound Pachyderm
Primus- Too Many Puppies
Primus- Sgt. Baker
Primus- Jerry Was A Racecar Driver
Primus- DMV
Primus- My Name is Mud
Primus- My Friend Fats
Primus- Groundhog's Day
Primus- American Life
Primus- Tommy The Cat
Primus- Lacquerhead
Probably the best bass playing you will ever hear(possibly). Its a little wack but its talented.
Red Hot Chili Peppers- Give It Away
RHCP- Higher Ground
RHCP- Fortune Faded
RHCP- True Men Don't Kill Coyotes
RHCP- Fight Like a Brave
RHCP- Otherside
RHCP- Suck My Kiss
RHCP- Scar Tissue
Also Shrapnel, The Early November are a great band. I'd prefer Mountain Range in My Living Room. They're actually pretty local, and they put on one helluva live show (well at least in New Jersey). I have a feeling you would like Copeland, if you don't already...

To see bands like Green Day suggested for a classical music list makes me want to rip my eyeballs out and eat them, so that I can look at my brain and watch it melt in disgust.
EDIT!
Oooh Bella Fleck and the Flecktones! Good choice! I saw them live in concort at this college they were playing at. GOOD stuff. Not exactly classical, but far better than anything else you could get that invovles an electric banjo.

Anything from Bach is freaking genius.
Jethro Tull- thick as a brick, minstrel in the gallery, songs from the wood
Doors-soft parade, L.A. woman, morrison hotel (everything else is mostly crap)
Anything from traffic
Some velvet underground songs have cool classical piano, so any one of there CD's except for squeeze.
Most of the stuff above definately isn't classical but it's all good.
